Further Info

Qwello Benelux B.V has acquired a majority stake in Groen-Eco B.V. (“Groen-Eco”), a Rotterdam-based charge point operator. The transaction completed on 21 September 2026.

Electric vehicle adoption across Europe continues to accelerate, and demand for reliable, well-located charging infrastructure is extending well beyond the public network. Workplace and destination charging is emerging as a critical layer of the EV charging ecosystem, driven by attractive unit economics, long-term contracts and contracted revenue. Groen-Eco has built a well-diversified, contracted charging platform across commercial and semi-public locations, operating a partnership-driven model while retaining direct customer relationships. It operates 720 chargers with more than 1,400 charging sockets at over 230 sites in the Netherlands, underpinned by long-term site contracts, typically with a 10-year term. The business has delivered strong and profitable growth.

By adding Groen-Eco’s platform to its own, Qwello extends its reach into B2B and semi-public destination charging, strengthens its footprint in the Netherlands and gains access to a growth pipeline that its operational scale is well placed to unlock. Groen-Eco will continue to operate under its existing leadership and operational team, and will gain access to Qwello’s proprietary hardware and full-stack software solution. The transaction also establishes a strategic platform for further consolidation across the broader European market.

IMPROVED acted as exclusive buy-side advisor to Qwello, guiding our client through the process from due diligence support and deal structuring to negotiations and completion. Our work spanned from business plan validation to structuring the acquisition to support Qwello’s integration and ownership objectives.

The transaction builds on IMPROVED’s growing track record advising across the EV charging and broader electrification infrastructure landscape. We are seeing increasing interest from both strategic platforms and infrastructure capital in charging assets. As the market matures, we expect consolidation to continue as scaled platforms acquire regional operators to expand coverage, deepen customer relationships and leverage operational synergies.
